Teacher's tips

Learning the names of colors is an important part of teaching children. Colors appear a lot in everything we use on a daily basis, whether listening to music, going to the supermarket, buying new clothes. Knowing the name of colors is also essential when describing something or asking for and receiving directions. With this GAME it was even more fun to learn this content. [FIM-DICA]

Suggestions of approaches for the teacher

For English work in the early grades, it is always important to ask students to repeat the pronunciation of each vocabulary out loud as they play.

(Suggestion 1) At school, this game can be proposed individually or in pairs.

As a record, at each move, the student should write the colors that appeared, making a list of colors on the sheet. In the room, propose that they make a drawing with the corresponding color next to each word they wrote.

(Suggestion 2) For work parallel to this game, take the children to the schoolyard and play “Dance of musical chairs”. On each chair there will be a star with a color. When losing the round, the teacher should remove a chair from the circle and show it to the student, asking: “What color is this?”. The student should answer: “It's .....!”.

(Suggestion 3) Make a wall of words in English. Ask each student to draw and write 3 words in English (determine only one theme), then guide them in building a collective mural with the drawings and words raised.

(Suggestion 4) Hangman in English.

(Suggestion 5) Use of word searches in English.

(Suggestion 6) Use of crosswords in English, with specific themes (fruits, colors, animals, objects).

(Suggestion 7) Mime play. In this activity, students should form a circle, where only one student at a time will get up and mime in which students guess. Students guessing must speak the answer only in English. Choose just one theme to properly guide the game.

(Suggestion 8) When working with a color, bring gelatin that represents the color being worked on and ask students to refer to the color of the gelatin using only English.

(Suggestion 9) promote a moment of painting the fabrics using paints of different colors.

(Suggestion 10) Use ink to mix and discover new colors. With each color discovered, look for its writing and pronunciation in English.
