Level of education: Elementary School - Early Childhood Education

Age: 05 to 08 years

The social distance caused by the effects of the coronavirus (Covid-19) presented many unprecedented challenges for parents, students and teachers, who had their routines modified and had to go through a series of adaptations. Didactic games and interactive activities stood out during this period, allowing to reconcile learning with homeschooling. The activity presented here can be complemented with the game “Coronavirus Prevention” that works on the same theme.

Suggestions of approaches for the teacher

(Suggestion 1) Word cloud: ask students to write words that characterize their life in this pandemic period: feelings, sensations...

(Suggestion 2) Create a folder explaining step by step to protect yourself against the Coronavirus.

(Suggestion 4) Promote a moment of conversation and ask questions about the new Coronavirus;

Tips to develop the subject in remote teaching and get better student engagement:

• Choose topics of interest to students, which somehow relate to past subjects;

• Establish objectives to be achieved taking into account details such as methodology, didactic resources and different ways of assessing student learning;

• Prevention: always have an ace up your sleeve in case there is a problem with a digital resource;

• Use all possible technological resources. The current use of technology is here to stay, so it's best to plan how to make the most of what this resource offers;

• Promote the integration of different types of media to convey knowledge and information to students;

• Promoting a collaborative construction of knowledge, taking the opportunity to involve parents and guardians in the learning process;

• Use and abuse creativity; search, save ideas from the internet, assemble a folder or create a notebook with ideas;
