Age: 06 to 08 years old

The word folklore is a word of English origin formed by the composition of two elements: “folk”, people, and “lore”, wisdom, knowledge, culture. Folklore should not be addressed only on its commemorative date, but whenever possible. This story mixes several interesting elements to work inside and outside the classroom and one of them is Boi Bumbá. We invite you to embark on this super cool story.

Suggestions of approaches for the teacher

(Suggestion 1) Ask the children to draw a picture on the book.

(Suggestion 2) Ask the students to draw the animals that can live on the farm.

(Suggestion 3) Ask students if they already knew Boi Bumbá

(Suggestion 4) Tell stories of Brazilian folklore characters.

(Suggestion 5) Ask students to draw characters from Brazilian folklore.

(Suggestion 5) Set up a mural and promote a culmination of folklore at school.

(Suggestion 6) Produce a puppet show and retell the story.

Main folklore characters:

• Werewolf: The Werewolf is a man who turns into a wolf on full moon nights.

• Headless mule: legend tells the story of a woman who would have fallen in love and had a relationship with a priest. At that moment, the curse would have formed against her, which turned into a mule without a head and with flames of fire coming out of its neck.
